My Daughter's First Quilt!

Our youngest daughter (youngest by 1 minute :)) unexpectedly came home for a week.  God received another Angel this past Sunday when he took my Mother-In-Law home.  Our daughter and grandchildren came home to be with us and while we are extremely saddened to have lost someone we love so dearly our spirits were lifted by the presence of our daughter, her 2 year old son and 6 month old daughter!

We had a full day today at home and we were productive!  My daughter made her very first quilt!!  One advantage of having a Long Arm in the house was I could take it into my long arm room and now it's all quilted!  All I've got left to do is bind it and then it will be going home with them on Christmas day.

It was one of those quick and easy Jelly Roll Quilts!  These are fantastic quilts when you need one fast and it's also a great quilt for new quilters because it helps then get the hang of quilting a 1/4" seam and how to sew a straight line!

I quilted it with Ducks and cattails!

While the kids took a nap we got busy making Christmas cookies and after dinner the remainder of our grandchildren joined us to frost cookies!

One Quilt, Two Quilts, Three Quilts, MORE!! Cont.!

You saw One Quilt....  Now here's Two Quilts!

A Jelly Roll!  I LOVE these quilts!  They are so individual and all so pretty!

The quilting pattern is Berry Vine and the thread color is Caravan!

And now for THREE QUILT!  You aren't going to believe this one, it is stunning!!!

Isn't it beautiful?  This quilt is Custom Quilted.

It is quilted with Sands of Time thread color.

The pieced block was quilted with Allissa Block 2.

It's hard to see in these pictures but the setting triangles were quilted with Feathers.

The Feathers weave their way around the pieced blocks.

The backing material is black with a small gold leaf, the perfect back for this quilt!

This quilt was a joy to quilt, it is a truly exceptional quilt!

Welcome March!

March always seems like the longest month ever for me!  This year it came in like a Lamb so I'm wondering if it really will go out like a Lion or not!  We'll have to wait and see!

Quilting has been busy!!  There is a lot happening in my sewing world right now.  For starters, the Snowman Alphabet, I've been busy working on it!  Here's the latest piece to be finished up:

This pattern is from Crabapple Hill Studios and I'm in LOVE with it!  I am finishing it up for a Shop Hop that is going to be happening in April this year, I'm busy stitching away!  Wish me luck!

I've been busy quilting for Quilts of Valor and there are a couple of Quilt shows coming up in our area and I've been busy getting quilts done for those shows.  Here's a couple of snapshots of what I've been up to!

Remember how I was having such a hard time getting pictures of the entire quilt?  Well my dear Husband fixed my problem for me AND it was VERY inexpensive!  Under $20.00!  I'm still amazed at how functional curtain rods can be!

Another Quilt of Valor.

Patty, who made and donated this quilt made a total of 4 quilts for this cause and all of them were of really bright and cheerful colors!

This is a 1600 Quilt and every one of them are so different!

Isn't it fantastic that you can finally see the entire quilt!

This is a shop sample for a local quilt shop and it was quilted in Limestone thread color (a bright Lime Green and Bright Yellow) and was quilted in all circles!  Talk about WILD!!

Sorry this picture is a little dark!  A perfect Throw size quilt!  Something to snuggle up with on this cool winter nights.  The quilting pattern is Ivy Trellis.

1600 Here we go again!

Perfect for all those new Grand Babies out there!  Did I tell you we are having our own little baby BOOM in our family?  We've got babies due in May, June and August this year!  Not certain how we happened to miss July!  I've heard that one of them MAY have Margaret in their name!!!  YEAH!

I would LOVE this quilt on my dining room table!  Too bad it's not mine! :(  Yes, I still insist on putting quilts on practically everything in my house!

This was the 2012 Quilt Club Quilt at O'Susannah's Quilts and Gifts in Watkins Glen NY.  

Close up of the center block.  Some people did needle turn, others did the button hole stitch and others top stitched this block.  All ways completed it is beautiful!

Okay, now I'm being really BAD because I can't remember who's quilt this one is or when I quilted it!  I'm so very sorry!  If it's yours please email me so I can put your name with it!

Another HUGE quilt!

My husband (is an avid hunter and all around sportsman) thought this was the greatest quilt ever!  It really is a wonderful quilt!  It is all flannel and the quilting pattern matched the quilt to perfection!  The quilting is an all over design of Pine Trees, Log Cabins and Deer!

Here's the center panel and Beth designed the borders herself!  She did a great job!

It's that time of year again ~ Yup time to get all those quilts done that are for wedding presents!

I hope this bride & groom realizes how lucky they are!  

I think I was a little punch happy or quilting happy when I did this one!  This is a shop sample and I was told I could do anything I wanted to and I did!  For the quilting patterns I combined two blocks together an one block is Zig Zags and the other is all Squigglies!  (Squigglies is not a word! SORRY)  I thought it was cute!

Check back later this week to see what's on the Long Arm now!  I put it on last night and I can't wait to see it all done!

Quilt in 1 Day!

I designed and completed this entire quilt in 1 day!  I finally got around to completing the video and getting pictures taken today.  Here's the completed quilt:

I can't wait to get this on the Long Arm!  This is going to be so much fun to quilt with all that open space to 'PLAY' with!  I've got some time to decide exactly how I'm going to quilt this, there are a few customer's quilts ahead of this one!

Grandkids at Halloween!

First and foremost pictures of my grand kids from Halloween!

Now on to Quilting!

I've been hearing a lot lately that people aren't considering their quilts done until they have been washed!  I am one of those people that have quilts in every room of my house, I am known to use a quilt as a tablecloth as well as a covering for the chair living room chairs and the living room couch (as proven by the pictures above!)!  Some people think I'm crazy but I love quilts, I love looking at them, feeling them and being surrounded by them.  Well this washing of quilts got me thinking about how much I love the feel of those quilts that have been washed again and again so I just HAD to give one of my newer quilts a wash!  Remember this quilt?  It's a 1600 that I made and quilted this past summer, it's been at one of our local quilt shops for the last few months and I recently pick it up.

It is wonderfully puckery (is that a word?). 

It's soft and cuddly and I am absolutely in LOVE with it!

 

I managed to get it washed and dried just in time, Natalie and Austin are on their way to my house!

I think we are going to have to put this quilt on the floor and have a tea party and a build a Lincoln Log House!

 

So in conclusion I think I have to start agreeing with what I'm hearing!  A quilt just may not be completely done until it's washed!  I've just thrown my all white quilt in the washer!  I'll show you how it comes out tomorrow!!
