Yoko Saito Quilts

As many of you already know I was lucky enough to go to Quilt Market in Houston Texas last month and while there I was able to spend a few minutes looking at some of the amazing quilts at Quilt Festival.  One of the quilt designers that really caught my eye was Yoko Saito!  Yoko's quilts are amazing!  I was able to get pictures of them to share with you!

Lots of Little 1/2 Square Triangles

Remember last week when I showed how to make 8 little half square triangles at once?  Well I had a reason for giving it a try and here is the reason:

I was really happy with how it turned out!  

It's all quilted, bound (thanks to my mom) and it hangs on the wall in my hallway!  This one of the quilts I'm making in a class I'm taking at O'Susannah's Quilts & Gifts in Watkins Glen NY.  I think I'm enjoying working with the tiny little pieces, I haven't completely decided yet!  I'll let you know after my next 7 quilts are done!!

I've got a busy weekend on my schedule!  I'm finishing up a stack of quilts for customers and getting laundry done so I can start packing for Quilt Market in Houston Texas!

One Quilt, Two Quilts, Three Quilts, MORE!! Cont.!

You saw One Quilt....  Now here's Two Quilts!

A Jelly Roll!  I LOVE these quilts!  They are so individual and all so pretty!

The quilting pattern is Berry Vine and the thread color is Caravan!

A very beautiful Quilt made by Jane!!  Great Job! 

And now for THREE QUILT!  You aren't going to believe this one, it is stunning!!!

Isn't it beautiful?  This quilt is Custom Quilted.

It is quilted with Sands of Time thread color.

The pieced block was quilted with Allissa Block 2.

It's hard to see in these pictures but the setting triangles were quilted with Feathers.

The Feathers weave their way around the pieced blocks.

And now for the BACK!

The backing material is black with a small gold leaf, the perfect back for this quilt!

This quilt was a joy to quilt, it is a truly exceptional quilt!

Brenda's Block of the Month Quilted!!

I went a little click happy today with my camera!  Take a look at this beautiful quilt that I had the honor of quilting!!!

 

Beautiful!

I really like the red with the lighter green and blue, the contrast really makes the points stand out!

I really did like they way this lighter part of this block blends right in with the other blocks and looks to be part of the background while the darker pieces make another border!

This is the center block.

I really like all the different pieced blocks!

I warned you that I got a little click happy, but every block is so pretty I couldn't resist!

Love the way you see three different starts in this block!

Here you can see the inner red border, the pieced border and then another red border and the below picture shows you the beautiful wide border!!

The center of the quilt was quilted with an Edge to Edge design.

This is one of my favorite Edge to Edge designs, it's Abundant Feathers!!!

This last pictures is of the border!  Love it!

I'm really happy with the way this quilt looks, I hope Brenda is happy with it too!

I'm off to work on a REALLY modern quilt next!  That's one of the things I love about my business, I can be working on a quilt that reminds me of Civil War days and then the next quilt can be a really Modern Quilt!

Simple and Beautiful!

Sometimes the most beautiful quilts are the simplist patterns.  Here's a perfect example.....

 

 

This is the Tumbler block. 

I really like the Dragon Flies that she picked out as the quilting pattern!.

 

 

 

I love the simplicity of a two color quilt

 

It's been a really busy week quilting quilts for Christmas!  If what I've been quilting this past week is any indication of what is going to be under the Christmas Tree it looks like there are a couple of Daughters/Granddaughters that will be getting new quilts for their beds and at least one Son/Grandson!!

Another Quilt Done!

This quilt was so much fun to quilt!  The owner said I could do anything I wanted with this one

so I did!!!

 

There are a total of 13 blocks with the center being appliqued.  Only one of the blocks was repeated (the basket at the top and the bottom) so I figured I needed to quilt EVERY block differently!

Talk about fun!

There were aspects of the quilting patterns that I liked and worked well with this beautiful quilt, but there were also aspects of the quilting patterns that I didn't so I manipulated the patterns to be what I wanted them to be based on the blocks!  I LOVE doing this! It is so much fun to take a quilting pattern and change it so that it 'fits' the beautiful quilt!!!

 

This block was the simplest that I did, the white with small flowers was a real tight meander and the blocks are a flower that is similar to the flower in the fabric.

 

The quilt is directional so the quilt is also directional,  The heart that you see at the bottom is actually straight up and down.  I think the photographer needs to go back to school :)!!

 

See the design in the black block?  That's a part of another design that I took apart and only used part of it so it would fit in the block!

 

It's a little tough to see but if you take a look at the pattern in the tan and black block, that is actually a part of the block from one of the borders, I took that block, duplicated it and created an entirely new quilt pattern that fit the quilt!!

 

So wish you could see this one better!  The tan and brown blocks are feathers and the other blocks have a beautiful heart with scroll work inside it!

 

See those small white blocks?  In those I found a really simple circle to quilt in these tiny blocks.

 

 

 

See the pattern in the black block?  That's part of the border and is also the block that I duplicated and combined to make another pattern.  The tan and black triangle have a heart pattern with scroll work.

My quilting room just isn't big enough to get a picture of the entire quilt!  I'm working on this issue, I need something to hang quilts from so I can take the pictures.  Any suggestions??

I'm off to take more pictures before the customer gets here to pick up her quilt!  Can't wait to show you!
