Laundry Basket Quilts!!!!

Take a look at this quilt!  It’s it beautiful?  I’m absolutely head over heels in love with it!!!

This quilt is designed by Laundry Basket Quilt and can be done as a block of the month.  What is really fantastic about it is Moda and Laundry Basket Quilts have designed what they call Silhouettes. 

 

Silhouettes are laser cut pieces of the fabric that have the fusing on the back!!  All you have to do is ‘peal’ and ‘stick’ them to your backing fabric and you are ready to go!  Talk about EASY!!  Once you’ve pressed the Silhouettes to your background fabric you can finish them by using your favorite method, button hole stitch (machine or hand), zig zag stitch or satin stitch!

I would love to do this as a monthly video block of the month lesson!  Anyone interested in joining me??

This Weekend's To Do List is FULL!!!!

What’s on your ‘to do list’ for this weekend?  Mine is packed full! 

I recently designed a quilt using Moda’s Kusari line of fabric.  The design uses one Jelly Roll, background fabric and a border fabric.  I am filming it as a step by step series and will be posing it on my Blog and on YouTube so that you can follow along and make one for yourself!  This quilt will be a quick and easy quilt that will be able to be completed in a weekend.  It would be a perfect last minute Christmas present, so if you’ve got someone on your list that you need a quilt for I’ve got the perfect design!  Here's a peak at the fabric!!

I just HAD to show you a small pic of one of the quilts that I will be loading onto the Long Arm this weekend to be quilted!  Can’t wait to start it!

Jo Morton Club Quilt!!

I LOVE my job!

Can you imagine being able to spend every day looking at beautiful quilts like this one? 

That's exactly what I get to do every day!

 

 

This customer is currently enrolled in a "Jo Morton Club" at her local quilt shop.

This quilt is quite small, the finished size is only 25" x 31"!  Yes, those blocks are really tiny!

 

The thread color is Amish Red, it matched the background fabric PERFECTLY!

Christmas??

This quilt reminds me so much of Christmas!

 

Paisley's have always been a favorite of mine and this quilt has a couple of different Paisley's in it!

 

I quilted this quilt with Amish Red thread and the pattern is Paisley!!

 

 

 

 

Please excuse the clash in colors!  The quilt behind it is one of my designs!

I probably shouldn't be pinning quilts to my quilt to take picutres of should I?

I need to figure out someplace to hang quilts for pictures, any suggestions?

Whole Cloth Quilt Washed!

I pulled my White Whole Cloth Quilt out of the dryer last night and I can't begin to put words to how beautiful it is now that it's been washed!

 

This whole cloth Quilt is made with a layer of Quilter's Dream Cotton and

a layer of Quilter's Dream Wool!

 

I thought the quilt would be really heavy but it's surprisingly not!!

Isn't it beautiful?  I love the way the feathers stand out!

and you can really see the detail in the 'sashing' strips of the pattern!

To me the blocks stand out so much more now that the quilt has been washed!

I really LOVE this quilt!  What a perfect wedding present for someone!

 

 

So... what are your thoughts?  Are quilts done when they haven't been washed or do you have to wash them before they are officially completed?  I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Grandkids at Halloween!

First and foremost pictures of my grand kids from Halloween! 

Lyon Margaret was a Lion! (Please take note of the quilt on the chair!)

Austin was Spider Man! (and the quilt on the ottoman!)

Natalie was a Lady Bug!

 

Now on to Quilting!

I've been hearing a lot lately that people aren't considering their quilts done until they have been washed!  I am one of those people that have quilts in every room of my house, I am known to use a quilt as a tablecloth as well as a covering for the chair living room chairs and the living room couch (as proven by the pictures above!)!  Some people think I'm crazy but I love quilts, I love looking at them, feeling them and being surrounded by them.  Well this washing of quilts got me thinking about how much I love the feel of those quilts that have been washed again and again so I just HAD to give one of my newer quilts a wash!  Remember this quilt?  It's a 1600 that I made and quilted this past summer, it's been at one of our local quilt shops for the last few months and I recently pick it up.

It is wonderfully puckery (is that a word?). 

It's soft and cuddly and I am absolutely in LOVE with it!

 

I managed to get it washed and dried just in time, Natalie and Austin are on their way to my house!

I think we are going to have to put this quilt on the floor and have a tea party and a build a Lincoln Log House!

 

So in conclusion I think I have to start agreeing with what I'm hearing!  A quilt just may not be completely done until it's washed!  I've just thrown my all white quilt in the washer!  I'll show you how it comes out tomorrow!!
