Civil War Quilt

I had the honor to quilt this for Ruth!

This block was the center of the quilt.

Here you can see it surrounded by some of the different blocks.  The quilt is quite large so it was impossible for me to get a picture of the entire quilt.

Isn't it beautiful?
There is a second frame of brown, blue and cream blocks that frame the log cabin blocks and then there is a third border that frames the entire quilt.

I love the way the log cabin blocks Frame the blocks which in turn frame the center block.

A picture of the blocks

Stars are always beautiful in a quilt!

One block equals three Stars!!  Love it!

A close up of the log cabin blocks.

The batting used in this quilt was Wool, I love the way it turns the quilt all 'Puffy'!

I know, I got carried away with photographs!!

This quilt makes me want to make another Sampler Quilt!!

Here's a good picture of one of the borders!

The center block!
This quilt made me think of all of the blocks I made when I first started quilting.  My very first quilt was a sampler quilt.  I loved making that quilt because it taught many of the basics of piecing different types of blocks and was a great foundation when learning to quilt!
I'm starting to think that it may be time to design a sampler type quilt for 2013!!
Happy Quilting!
